Bottle of Kiri Citrus Hibiscus kombucha with its new label

Why Kiri? The Story Behind Our New Name

If you have been drinking our kombucha for a while, you may remember us as Tangy Turtle. In 2026 we became Kiri Kombucha (គីរី). Same brewers, same small batches, same city. Just a new name and a new look.

What does Kiri mean?

Kiri (គីរី) means mountain in Khmer. You can hear it in place names across Cambodia, like Mondulkiri and Ratanakiri. We wanted a name that felt natural and grounded, and that came from here.

A brand made in Cambodia

Look closely at our bottles. The graphic shapes draw on traditional Khmer motifs, the peak of a mountain, and the woven patterns of the Khmer krama. Together they are meant to feel handcrafted, natural and proudly Cambodian.

Every bottle has one side in English and one side in Khmer, because the people drinking Kiri read both. Each flavour also has its own colours, so it is easy to spot your favourite in the fridge.

What has not changed

  • The brew. Small batches, tea, real fruit and live cultures, made in Phnom Penh.
  • The bottles. We still wash, sanitise and reuse our bottles. See how our bottle recycling works.
  • The doorstep delivery. Home delivery is still here, with free delivery in Phnom Penh.

Whether you have been with us since the Tangy Turtle days or this is your first bottle, welcome to Kiri.
